Texans bench Tyrod Taylor for Davis Mills during Houston’s Week 13 game against the Colts

Tyrod Taylor was pulled during the second half of the Houston Texans’ Week 13 game against the Indianapolis Colts. Taylor was pulled in favor of Davis Mills with Houston trailing 21-0 midway through the third quarter.

Taylor was just 5 of 13 for 45 yards and an interception before he was pulled. Mills did not fare much better during his first two drives, as he went just 2 of 7 passing for 14 yards during that span as the Colts increased their lead to 24-0.

Taylor started the Texans’ first two games of the season before he was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. The veteran quarterback returned to the starting lineup in Week 11. Over his past two games (losses to the Titans and Jets), Taylor completed 31 of 50 passes with two touchdowns and one interception. He also ran for two scores during Houston’s Week 11 loss to the Titans.

In six starts this season, Mills went 0-6 with seven touchdowns and eight interceptions. Taylor won two of his first five starts while throwing five touchdowns against four interceptions. A Pro Bowler for the Bills during the 2015 season, Taylor is in the middle of his first season in Houston after spending the last two seasons in Los Angeles.

The Texans are among the teams that are expected to be in the market to select a quarterback during the 2022 Draft. CBS Sports NFL Draft analyst Ryan Wilson has the Texans selecting Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral with the No. 2 overall pick.
